About Bewon

A Korean restaurant in Ann Arbor offering authentic dishes, bibimbap, and stews for dine-in, takeout, and delivery.

Bewon is one of the korean restaurants listed in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The business is registered at 3574 Plymouth Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Ann Arbor, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Michigan run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 am–2:30 pm. It is closed on Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (734) 332-1004. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is order.toasttab.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 504 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded korean restaurants in Ann Arbor.

Ann Arbor is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. This restaurant has meant so much to me during my time in Ann Arbor. I was heartbroken when I walked in today. What used to be a cozy hole-in-the-wall has now been replaced with rigid tables and order-takers in the form of creepy tablets. The coldness is astounding. I’m sure they’re gearing up for a neon sign on one of the walls soon. Lifeless and perfectly artificial plants now sit where the beautiful orchids once smiled and gently beckoned at the tired grad student that just needed a warm hug in the form of a heartily cooked meal, the icing on the cake being the caring grandma and grandpa that treated everyone they encountered with grace and dignity. The food is still great, but the warmth and kindness that had evidently carried the place for years, is no longer there. I won’t be going back, not because the food isn’t good, but because I can’t bare to see what was once a place that feel like home, turn into another instagrammable, manufactured space. I wish the new owners the best in their endeavors. I hope that the previous owners are enjoying the fruits of their beautiful laborβ€” thank you for making Ann Arbor beautiful.

I tried this place before the new owners and after. I enjoyed both versions. My order was the soondobu soup with beef and it was well made. The renovations made the place more bright and airy. Would come again! Thank you!

(Update 9/5 – Second visit after new management takeover) I decided to give this place another try since some of the old menu items have started making a comeback. This time I ordered the seafood pancake, galbi tang, and soon tofu jigae. Still no wooguhji galbi tang on the menu, but seeing familiar dishes gave me a bit of hope. I was surprised when the seafood pancake showed up in a pizza box. Honestly, it didn’t look very appetizingβ€”it seemed like it was missing enough flour/starchβ€”but it turned out to be delicious. The galbi tang tasted very close to how it used to, no complaints there (though if I’m nitpicking, I wish it was served a little hotter). The soon tofu jigae was actually better than before, which was a nice surprise. Because of these returning dishes, I’m bumping up my overall rating. Now pleaseβ€”bring back the wooguhji galbi tang πŸ™πŸ½! β€”β€” First time trying the new menu during their soft opening. I’ve been a loyal Bewon fan since moving to Ann Arbor from Asia five years ago. Their galbi tang and wooguji galbi tang were my go-to comfort dishesβ€”I’ve tried them at many restaurants in and outside Michigan, and Bewon’s were truly the best. It’s disappointing to see those

Arrived for lunch. Not very busy. Ordered the beef Bibibap. Absolutely delicious. Comes with a variety of side items. You can get it in a hot bowl for a few dollars more. Drink refill never happened. Place has a worn down dingy look.
